2001 EDITION: XV Solidarity Prize awarded to Fundació
ARED, and the Honorary Prize for Work in the Mass Media awarded
to El Ciervo magazine
In 2002, the IDHC awarded the Fundació
per a la reinserció de dones, ARED (Foundation for
the reintegration of women) with the XV Solidarity
Prize. This institution works for the social reintegration
of ex--convict women through a job in a textile cooperative.
The panel wanted to recognize this foundation for its work
in the recuperation and qualification of women in a disadvantaged
situation to find employment and reintegrate in society.
The prize consisted ofa work of art generously donated by
the painter, Albert Ràfols-Casamada.
The Honorary Prize for Work in the Mass Media awarded
“El Ciervo” magazine which celebrated its
50th anniversary in 2001. “El Ciervo” continued
publishing throughout the Franco regime and has continued
until today.
The bestowment took place on February 19th, 2002, in the
Catalonian Parliament. Mr. Ernest Benach, President of the
Catalonia Parliament, and José Manuel Bandrés,
president of the Human Rights Institute, presided the act.
At the end of the ceremony, the Vivaldi choir, under the direction
of Oscar Boada, closed the act.
