Round table discussion
Nepal, in the process of peace
During the session a historical explication of the conflict which has devastated Nepal since 1996 will be made. The explication will present a global vision of the situation in the area, analysing the causes and consequences of the conflict as well as the international context, identifying the directly involved actors and interests.
An expert in the resolution and mediation of conflicts will analyse the peace process that is underway in Nepal at present, and what this might lead to in future.
The systematic violation of human rights throughout the conflict, as much by the Maoist guerrillas as by the army, will be covered in depth.
Lastly, a journalist will make a contribution explaining, from the perspective of the media, the reasons for the lack of attention paid to the conflict in the international press.
