In Kosovo, one year after independence and with the right to auto-determination satisfied, many other rights are still not guaranteed and are not enjoyed by all of the communities that make up the territory: Albanians, Serbs, Roma and Turks ...

These other rights must be brought out into the open in order to explain the causes of their violation and to propose solutions. Moreover, it is necessary to speak of the responsibilities of international organisations in the protection these rights and their role in the field.

At the IDHC the Kosovo conflict is analysed from the perspective of human rights, with particular emphasis on forgotten rights, those situations that never appear in the media.

WORKING MEETING

On January 19th 2009 a working meeting took place with different entities, people and administrations who work or are interested in Kosovo with the objective of reflecting on these neglected aspects of the situation in the region and to create a small agenda of items of interest for publication in the next few months.

The meeting was attended by Asier Santillan, a former deputy chief of the department of humans rights of the OSCE mission in Kosovo. La Escola Cultura de Pau, la Lliga dels Drets dels Pobles and la Fundació Pau i Solidaritat de CCOO also participated.

As a conclusion of the day's work a publication is being written which addresses the access to justice, the role of women, the right to education and the right to health in Kosovo.
